Brian Whelan: Transmetropolitan and City Heights

RA alumnus Brian Whelan is showing his 9ft x 12ft polyptych Transmetropolitan at the Ipswich School of Art Museum for the “From the class of…” exhibition. Brian taught drawing at the Ipswich Art School in the ‘90s. Other artists, who were teachers or students at the Ipswich School of Art showing their work include Maggie Hambling CBE, Brian Eno and Bernard Reynolds.

Transmetropolitan was such a hit with young students, that the museum has produced a documentary, which will be premiered 7 May. This will be the second documentary that features the painting. The first is being finalized in Philadelphia, where the painting was shown as part of The Quiet Men - London Irish Painters exhibition (see RASA article of August 16 2010 below).
